A huge fire has swept through an apartment building under construction in downtown Los Angeles.

More than 250 firefighters have been fighting the blaze which broke out in an empty apartment complex in the early hours of Monday morning.

It is not thought anyone was in the building at the time and there were no initial reports of any injuries.
